History KPMG’s has had a presence in Barbados for over three decades: 1969 - Ken Hewitt starts an accounting practice in Barbados as Ken Hewitt & Co. 1973 - A merger between Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co and Ken Hewitt & Co provides the impetus for KPMG Peat Marwick’s presence in Barbados. 1986 - KPMG Peat Marwick Associates Limited is formed to deliver management consultancy and advisory services to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean in the areas of finance, information technology and human resources. 1987 - Peat Marwick (PM) and Klynveld Main Goedeler (KMG) merge worldwide to create one firm, KPMG Peat Marwick. 1998 - The Barbados firm standardizes its name to KPMG in conformance with KPMG International standards. KPMG has a well-recognized professional services practice in Barbados with a reputation for integrity and thoroughness. Our approach to relationships and service delivery helps clients locally and regionally to exploit new opportunities, improve performance, manage risk and enhance value. KPMG in Barbados is owned and managed by 5 partners, and employs 97 persons.
KPMG Barbados has recently become a member of the KPMG CARICOM grouping which is a sub-region of the Europe-Middle East-Africa region. We have strong operating relationships with KPMG’s other English-speaking Caribbean practices based in Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Antigua, St. Lucia, Bermuda, Anguilla, the Bahamas, the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, St. Vincent & the Grenadines and the Turks & Caicos Islands. At the same time, KPMG continues to maintain its historically strong links with KPMG Canada which played a significant role in the development of the Barbados practice over 30 years ago.
